Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. This information is used only to identify your account and associate your documents with it. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, or any other Google service.

When you upload a PDF, the file is stored and its text is extracted and indexed so you can ask questions about it. Documents are tied to your account and are not accessible to other users.

How we use your data

• Authentication — your Google profile is used to create and maintain your session.
• Document storage — uploaded PDFs and their extracted text are stored per account and used to answer your questions.
• AI answers — when you ask a question, relevant text chunks from your documents are sent to the OpenAI API to generate an answer. Your raw PDF files are not transmitted; only the extracted text excerpts relevant to your query are used.

Data isolation

Every document and conversation is scoped to your individual account. No user can see, access, or query another user's documents. Sessions are managed server-side with expiring tokens.

Third-party services

• Google OAuth — used for sign-in only. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI API — receives extracted text chunks from your documents to generate answers. Your raw PDF files are not transmitted; only the relevant text excerpts are used. Governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
• Cohere API — used to re-rank search results for better answer relevance. Receives short text excerpts from your documents. Governed by Cohere's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel — used for frontend hosting. Governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data or documents to any other third parties.

What we do not do

• We do not use your documents or queries to train AI models.
• We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not track your activity across other websites.

Data retention

Your account, documents, and session data remain stored until you delete them or request account deletion. Expired sessions are automatically cleaned up.

Your rights

You can delete any uploaded document at any time from within the Zeptrion workspace. To delete your entire account and all associated data permanently, use the Delete account option in the account menu inside the app. This action is immediate and irreversible.
